Our Story

The Beginning of Something Bigger.

In 2024, longtime rodeo producer Ted Slathar and racing executive Kip Rakos partnered to bring a PRCA rodeo to Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota. What began as an ambitious idea quickly became a proven success, introducing thousands of fans to a new way of experiencing rodeo within the unique setting of a premier horse racing venue.

The overwhelming response sparked a bigger question:

In February 2026, that question became a vision. Rather than bringing fans to a single rodeo, Kip and Ted set out to bring rodeo to some of the country's most iconic racetracks. The goal was to create a national series that celebrates western heritage while delivering a modern, destination-level entertainment experience.

Today, Rodeo at the Racetrack is built on a simple belief: two of America's greatest traditions belong together.

By combining elite PRCA competition, premier racetrack venues, live entertainment, and elevated hospitality, we're creating a new chapter for western sports, one stop at a time.

From one successful event in Minnesota to a national vision spanning America's premier racetracks,
Rodeo at the Racetrack is just getting started.
